If you missed the Buddy Walk® last year, you won't want to miss it this year! With over 300 participants, sponsors, and community leaders. November 21st, 2009 was a day to remember! Please enjoy our video presentation. You can read more below.
On behalf of the many individuals in Southern Utah who were born with Down syndrome, we the board of directors would like to express our sincerest appreciation to everyone who made last years Buddy Walk such an incredible success. We would especially like to thank the over 45 community sponsors and volunteers who stepped up and made this years event memorable for everyone who came. If you were not able to be there, here is just a short list of what you missed. Kids both young and old enjoyed building crafts with Home Depot, getting their picture taken by Delorme' photography, free breakfast provided by several donors, jump-houses, Claudia's Clown service making balloon animals, music and dance courtesy of DJ Spins, a wonderful bird release to commence the walk, and a special visit from Saturn, the RoadRunner! We are excited to announce our next Buddy Walk will be Saturday, September 25th, to be held again at the Town Square Park. And be sure to listen to 94.1 the Planet where we will be the "Charity In The Spotlight" during the entire month of September. Please JOIN US this year by REGISTERING or CONTRIBUTING Today! About the Buddy Walk®
Over the past fifteen years, the Buddy Walk® program has grown from 17 walks to more than 300 expected in 2010 across the country and around the world. Last year alone, 275,000 people participated in a Buddy Walk®! They raised $19 million to benefit national education, research and advocacy initiatives, as well as local programs. These funds enable NDSS and local groups to offer services that support and enhance the quality of life for individuals with Down syndrome and their families. The Buddy Walk® is a one-mile walk in which anyone can participate without special training. It is a wonderful, heart-warming event that celebrates the many abilities and accomplishments of people with Down syndrome. Whether you have Down Syndrome, know someone who does, or just want to show your support, come and join a Buddy Walk® in your local community!
